一、英语景物描写类旅游文本的特点

一般来说，景物的描写可分为两种方式：说明性描写（expository）与联想性描写（suggestive）。说明性描写以从所描写事物中获取信息为目的，景点说明词就属于说明性描写。联想性描写是要求对所描写事物产生直接的感官联想。以下笔者将重点讨论英文在联想性景物描写方面的特点。

（一）用语简略

通常，英语旅游文本中对景物的描写大多风格简约，结构严谨，行文用词简明扼要，表达直观通俗，注重信息的准确性和语言的实用性。文本中常用客观的具象罗列传达实实在在的景物之美，力求忠实再现自然之美，给读者留下明确具体的印象。例如：

（1）Tiny islands are strung around the edge of the peninsula like a pearl necklace. Hunks of oral reef， coconut palms and fine white sand.

座座岛屿玲珑小巧，紧密相连，像一串珍珠缀成的项链，环绕半岛边缘。岛上珊瑚礁红，椰树成片，沙滩如银，景色如诗如画（贾文波，2004：110）。

（二）结构紧凑

英语是一种“形合”语言，十分讲究句式结构的逻辑层次和有机组合，语法规则十分严格，表现为一种严谨的空间搭架式立体结构，反映出英语表达逻辑严谨、思维缜密的美学特点，要加强语义、扩展信息。英语不是单纯靠词语的添加，往往是通过一定的衔接手段来实现的，句子的深层寓意在很多情况下常隐含在句子的上下文之中。例如：

（2）Although the state （Hawaii） is located in the tropical zone，its climate is comfortable because of the ocean currents that pass its shores and winds that blow across the land from the northeast. The temperature usually remains close to the annual average of 24 degrees Centigrade.

以上例子中，例（3）运用的是隐喻，把海港的构造比作仙境，生动地刻画出海港之美。而例（4）中则把水滴比做珍珠，把水洼比做镜子，使小溪的形象一下子变得直观清晰起来，使语言表达更丰满，凸显出意境之美。

二、英语景物描写类旅游文本的常用翻译技巧

英、汉民族分属不同的文化体系，加上各自生活的地理环境、历史条件、生产方式、社会结构等的差异，因而形成不同的文化传統、思维方式和审美习惯。文化和审美上的差异直接影响英、汉旅游文本在语言表达风格上的差异。英语旅游文本中的景物描写的最终目的是增强文章的感染力，使旅游者在获得丰富信息的同时，感受到人文和自然之美。因此，翻译英语景物描写类旅游文本时应以读者效应为根本出发点，充分考虑英、汉景物描写在表达风格上的差异，有效达到交际目的。

具体而言，译者应先对原文的语境因素进行分析，把握原文景物描写的发展脉络，从字里行间读出原文所描述的意境，在头脑中形成所描述景物的图像。然后在翻译时，译者应综合考虑社会、文化等各种语境因素，力求实现从原文到译文在形象与意象、具体与抽象、实与虚、动与静之间的有效转换，用符合目的语规范和审美标准的语言准确传达原文信息。

为使英语景物描写类旅游文本的汉译符合汉语的体裁规范，使译文雅俗共赏，符合汉语读者的阅读习惯，可结合源语文本的特点，灵活采用不同的翻译技巧和方法。常用的翻译方法有增译、分译和结构调整。

（一）增译

增译又称增词法（amplification），是指在翻译时根据目的语语义、修辞或句法的需要，在不改变原文语义信息的前提下，适当增加一些词，将原文的内涵意义加以引申，或使译文表达更通顺，贴近目的语读者的欣赏习惯和阅读心理。例如：

（5）There are scene of all sorts， some dreadful combats， some grand and lofty horse-riding， some scenes of high life， and some of very middling indeed； some love-making for the sentimental， and some light comic business.

看看各种表演，像激烈的格斗，精彩的骑术，上流社会的形形色色，普通人家生活的情形，专为多情的看客预备的恋爱场面，轻松滑稽的穿插等（叶子南，2001：76）。

此例中的汉语译文采用了典型的增译手法，画线部分为译文增加的词，它们很好地体现了原文的隐含意义，使译文更加通顺，符合译文读者的欣赏习惯。用“形形色色”更好地表达了scenes的复數形式；“生活的情形”隐含在some of very middling indeed之中；原文字面上虽然没有“专为多情的看客预备的”，但译文绝对没有添加文外之意。如果将这些加进去的词语去掉，虽然不会影响对原文意思的理解，但很可能使译文的感染力大打折扣，影响译文的可读性，也不符合汉语读者的审美习惯。

（二）分译

由于英、汉句型结构上的差异，英、汉语不可能在句式上完全对应，这就要求在翻译时对原文进行切分。切分的单位可大可小，有时原文是一个简单句，但句中的某一个词或短语会影响译文的效果，这时就有必要把这个词或短语单独抽出来，构成一个独立的从句或一个独立的句子，这种方法就叫分译或拆译。分译法通常用于英语长句的翻译，一般需要把长句拆分成若干短句，比如说把一个定语从句拆成另一个独立句，或是一个主谓结构，同时根据原文的意思在词序上作必要的调整。长句拆译的常用方法有“顺拆法”和“倒拆法”。顺拆法就是大致上按句子的意群分成一个个片段，然后把这些片段按原来的先后顺序译出，适当填进一些连词或虚词，以保证意思的连贯。倒拆法就是按意群把句子拆开，逆着原文的句法排列，逐步往上倒译。在有些情况下，则需要综合应用顺拆法和倒拆法来翻译。例如：

（6）The sky reflected in the water turned the Seine into a lovely shade of blue which trembled in the hazy sunshine filtering through leafy branches of the trees lining the river’s edge.

由于英语旅游文本的主要目的是吸引游客，提高景点的知名度。此外，英语句子中某些成分的位置比较灵活，在表达方式和写作结构上与汉语存在较大差异。鉴于以上原因，在对英语景物描写类旅游文本进行汉译时，译者可以根据译文的需要，在不损害原文基本意义的前提下，在结构上对原文进行调整，使其更符合汉语读者的阅读习惯，从而吸引更多的中国游客。例如：

（7）Beautiful and serene， Malacca is perfect for tourists seeking rest and relaxation in a tropical paradise.

对于在热带天堂中寻找休息和轻松的旅游者来说，美丽宁静的马六甲可谓完美无瑕。

译文根据汉语的行文需要，调整了原文的句式结构，将“for tourists seeking rest and relaxation in a tropical paradise”先行译出，让beautiful 和serene作定语修饰 Malacca。这样的译文更通顺流畅，符合汉语的表达习惯，更易让中国游客理解和接受。

结语

英语景物描写类旅游文本有其自身的特点，译者只有把握好其语言特性，在汉译过程中以读者效应为出发点，充分考虑英、汉两种语言在表达风格上的差异，才能译出符合中国读者审美心理和欣赏习惯的译文。笔者通过研究分析归纳出英语景物描写类旅游文本的特点及常用的汉译方法，以期为英语旅游文本的汉译实践提供理论参考。
