(1) 考查导数的概念, 求导公式和法则;

(2) 导数的简单运用, 包括求函数的极值, 求函数的单调区间, 证明函数的增减性等;

(3) 综合考查, 包括解决应用问题, 将导数内容与传统内容中有关不等式和函数的单调性等有机地结合在一起, 设计综合试题.

下面通过例题谈谈导数在这些问题当中的应用.

一、利用导数求曲线的切线方程

由于函数y=f (x) 在x=x0处的导数, 表示曲线在点P (x0, f (x0) ) 处切线的斜率, 因此, 曲线y=f (x) 在点P (x0, f (x0) ) 处的切线方程可如下求得:

(1) 求出函数y=f (x) 在点x=x0处的导数, 即曲线y=f (x) 在点P (x0, f (x0) ) 处切线的斜率.

(2) 在已知切点坐标和切线斜率的条件下, 求得切线方程为:y=y0+f′ (x0) (x-x0) , 如果曲线y=f (x) 在点P (x0, f (x0) ) 处的切线平行于y轴 (此时导数不存在) 时, 由切线定义可知, 切线方程为x=x0.

例1求曲线y=2x2+3在点P (1, 5) 和Q (2, 9) 处的切线方程.

分析:点P在曲线上, 因此过点P的切线的斜率就是在处的函数值

点Q不在曲线上, 因此不能够直接用导数求斜率, 要通过设切点的方法求切线.

解:因为y=2x2+3,

所以y′=4x, 所以y′|x=1=4.

即过点P的切线的斜率为4, 故切线为:y=4x+1.

设过点Q的切线的切点为T (x0, y0) , 则切线的斜率为4x0, 又, 故, 化为2x02-8x0+6=0, 解得x0=1, 3.

即切线QT的斜率为4或12, 从而过点Q的切线为:y=4x+1, 或y=12x-15.

点评:要注意所给的点是否是切点.若是, 可以直接采用求导数的方法求;不是则需设出切点坐标.

例2求抛物线y=x2上的点到直线xy-2=0的最短距离.

分析:可设P (x, x2) 为抛物线上任意一点, 则可把点P到直线的距离表示为自变量x的函数, 然后求函数最小值即可.另外, 也可把直线向靠近抛物线方向平移, 当直线与抛物线相切时的切点到直线x-y-2=0的距离即为本题所求.

解:根据题意可知, 与直线x-y-2=0平行的抛物线y=x2的切线对应的切点到直线x-y-2=0的距离最短, 设切点坐标为 (x0, x02) , 那么,

所以抛物线上的点到直线的最短距离为.

二、导数在函数单调性中的应用

例3已知函数f (x) =ax3+3x2-x+1在R上是减函数, 求a的取值范围.

错解:f′ (x) =3ax2+6x-1, 因为f (x) 在R上是减函数, 所以f′ (x) <0在R上恒成立, 所以3ax2+6x-1<0对一切x∈R恒成立, 所以Δ<0, 即36+12a<0, 所以a<-3.

正解:f′ (x) =3ax2+6x-1, 因为f (x) 在R上是减函数, 所以f′ (x) ≤0在R上恒成立,

所以Δ≤0且a<0,

即36+12a≤0且a<0, 所以a≤-3.

例4当x>0, 证明不等式.

当x>0时, f′ (x) >0, 所以f (x) 在 (0, +∞) 内是增函数.又f (x) 在[0, +∞) 上连续, 所以f (x) >f (0) ,

三、可导函数的极值

1. 极值的概念

设函数f (x) 在点x0附近有定义, 且若对x0附近的所有的点都有f (x) f (x0) ) , 则称f (x0) 为函数的一个极大 (小) 值, 称x0为极大 (小) 值点.

2. 求可导函数f (x) 极值的步骤:

(1) 求导数f′ (x) .

(2) 求方程f′ (x) =0的根.

(3) 检验f′ (x) 在方程f′ (x) =0的根的左右的符号, 如果在根附近的左侧为正, 右侧为负, 那么函数y=f (x) 在这个根处取得极大值;如果在根附近的右侧为正, 左侧为负, 那么函数y=f (x) 在这个根处取得极小值.

四、函数的最大值和最小值

(1) 设y=f (x) 是定义在区间[a, b]上的函数, y=f (x) 在 (a, b) 内有导数, 求函数y=f (x) 在[a, b]上的最大值与最小值, 可分两步进行.

(1) 求y=f (x) 在 (a, b) 内的极值.

(2) 将y=f (x) 在各极值点的极值与f (a) 、f (b) 比较, 其中最大的一个为最大值, 最小的一个为最小值.

(2) 若函数f (x) 在[a, b]上单调增加, 则f (a) 为函数的最小值, f (b) 为函数的最大值;若函数f (x) 在[a, b]上单调递减, 则f (a) 为函数的最大值, f (b) 为函数的最小值.

例5设工厂到铁路线的垂直距离为20km, 垂足为B.铁路线上距离B为100km处有一原料供应站C, 现要在铁路BC之间某处D修建一个原料中转车站, 再由车站D向工厂修一条公路.如果已知每千米的铁路运费与公路运费之比为3∶5, 那么, D应选在何处, 才能使原料供应站C运货到工厂A所需运费最省?

解:设BD之间的距离为xkm, 则

如果公路运费为a元/km, 那么铁路运费为元/km.故从原料供应站C途经中转站D到工厂A所需总运费y为:.

对该式求导, 得.

令y′=0, 即得25x2=9 (x2+400) ,

解之得x1=15, x2=-15 (不符合实际意义, 舍去) .且x1=15是函数y在定义域内的唯一驻点, 所以x1=15是函数y的极小值点, 而且也是函数y的最小值点.由此可知, 车站D建于B, C之间并且与B相距15km处时, 运费最省.

点评:这是一道实际生活中的优化问题, 建立的目标函数是一个复合函数, 用过去的知识求其最值往往没有一般方法, 即使能求出, 也要涉及到较高的技能技巧.而运用导数知识, 求复合函数的最值就变得非常简单.一般情况下, 对于实际生活中的优化问题, 如果其目标函数为高次多项式函数、简单的分式函数、简单的无理函数、简单的指数对数函数, 或它们的复合函数, 均可用导数法求其最值.由此也可见, 导数的引入, 大大拓宽了中学数学知识在实际优化问题中的应用空间.
