《英语课程标准》对高中阶段的听说能力提出了较高的要求:要能够识别不同语气所表达的不同情感;听懂有关熟悉话题的讨论和谈话并记住要点;抓住一般语段中的观点;基本听懂广播或电视新闻的主题和大意;听懂委婉的建议和劝告等。要能在交流中使用恰当的语调、语气和节奏表达个人的意图和情感等;根据学习任务进行商讨和制定计划;报告任务和项目完成的过程和结果;经过准备就所给话题作3分钟的演讲;在日常交际交往中有效地使用语言进行表达等。

根据《广东省普通高校招生考试改革调整方案》, 广东省普通高考英语科考试从2011年开始分别进行笔试和听说考试。把人机对话的听说考试纳入整份试卷里面, 所有的学生都必须参加听说考试。听说考试占15分, 占了总卷分数的10%。这种考试方式的改革使高考听说考试成为高考英语考试的重要组成部分, 充分体现了广东对英语听说教学的重视。广东高考英语听说考试的加入, 完全符合21世纪世界全球化的需要, 也对学校教师的听说教学提出了新的挑战和要求;对于改变“哑巴”英语的尴尬局面有积极的意义。根据多年的高中英语教学的探索和实践, 笔者就如何提高学生的听说兴趣, 从而有效提高学生的听说能力谈谈几点做法:

一、教师以身示范, 树立威信

要想最大限度的调动学生参与英语课堂的积极性, 作为英语老师, 不仅在课堂, 甚至在课外最好养成与学生用英语交流的习惯, 为学生勤于开口, 祛除胆怯的情绪树立榜样, 使学生有“Enjoy losing face”的心态, 帮助学生养成用英语交流的习惯。

二、积少成多, 熟能生巧

听说能力的提高离不开词汇的积累, 而词汇的积累, 仅仅靠课堂是远远不够的。英语老师应该充分利用第二课堂教学, 让学生学以致用, 把英语学习跟学生的生活和娱乐休闲有机的结合起来。例如, 教师可以利用好学生的点滴“垃圾”时间, 给学生一些英文歌、电影片段等, 可以让学生在等车坐车、饭前饭后等短暂的时间随身听, 在放松学生心情的同时, 激发学生学习英语的热情。教师还可以通过其它渠道, 包括阅读等方法有计划地扩大学生的词汇量;同时通过有效的评价机制, 例如:“词汇大比拼”, “谁是班词霸”等, 及时给学生鼓励, 保持学生的积累热情。

此外, 要灵活地创设第二课堂平台让学生进行练习。学校每个学期有计划地举办英语角、英语剧表演、英文歌曲演唱, 开设英文广播节目等活动, 使“死”的英语学习变成“活”的英语运用, 让学生体验积累和英语练习的快乐和成就感。此外, 老师可以给学生布置任务:利用周六、周日去结识一些English-speaking的人士, 与他们拍照, 获得他们的联系方式, 了解一些你感兴趣的西方的文化风俗。通过完成这个任务, 学生不仅提高和培养了自己听说的能力, 同时还克服了开口与外国人交流的恐惧, 进一步激发了学生学习英语的兴趣。

需要注意的是:在让学生积累的过程中, 不一定拘泥于教材要求的限制, 可以让学生在一个个主题中最大限度地浸于常用的词汇;绝对不能让学生机械的记忆一个个毫不关联的单词, 学生只会在枯燥的记忆中失去兴趣, 而且他们也不知如何使用正确这些词汇。学生输入的材料要注意词汇和语言结构的融合、语言和文化知识的融合。

三、营造快乐轻松的课堂氛围, 设计有效的课堂活动

纯粹的语言学习是枯燥的。学生在英语学习过程中存在一种普遍的现象:学生对听说能力, 尤其是对说的能力非常不自信;学生有严重的焦虑情绪:总是担忧自己的表达不够流利, 语法出现错误;同时还担忧同学或者老师的负面评价。因此, 营造一个快乐轻松的课堂氛围显得尤为重要。“动静”结合, “活”而不乱是听说课堂的设计原则。话题主题的选择要符合学生的兴趣爱好, 和学生的生活密切相关;课堂活动也应该形式多样, 如:讨论、采访、聊天、评论、辩论、自述、讲故事、角色扮演、短时演讲等。

为了保证课堂活动的有效性和保证大部分学生的参与性, 在听说活动开展之前, 教师可以通过“头脑风暴”和听说前预测等的形式, 先给学生适当的词汇和句型输入, 让不同层次的学生都有话可说。在听说课堂教学中, 教师要始终采取热情鼓励的态度, 要及时对学生的表现做出正面的反馈, 帮助学生体验成功的快感。

听说教学应该渗透在每一节课堂中。利用课前5分钟, 让学生听一个小故事、小幽默、一则新闻或是一个电影片段, 让学生回答相关的问题, 并就相关主题发表自己的看法。这些都是行之有效的方法, 让听说教学融合于每一节课里。

此外, 只有足够的训练和输入, 才能有高质量的输出。教师要注意指导学生日常的泛听和精听相结合、朗读和背诵相结合;鼓励学生持之以恒, 适时检测学生, 让学生体验英语脱口而出的成就感。

四、针对广东高考题型的一些有效的训练策略

针对《新课程标准》对学生听说能力的要求, 广东英语高考听说考试的题型和评价标准, 在平时的针对考试的训练中要做到以下几点:

题型一是模仿朗读。这要求我们在平时的练习中, 应该提倡学生每天坚持大声模仿朗读, 注意阅读的流畅性、语音和语调的准确性。对于不认识的生词, 要鼓励学生克服畏难情绪, 尝试根据发音规则读出来, 或者尝试快速模仿的强化训练;注意防止出现吞掉末尾辅音和元音发音不饱满等现象.

题型二是角色扮演, 三问五答。其中提问的三个问题是预先设计好的, 必须按照中文提示进行提问, 每个问题前有10秒钟准备时间, 回答每个问题之前有5秒钟的准备时间。回答的问题一般有三个较为简单, 主要是人名、地名、时间等简单的信息, 但有一两个要用完整的句子回答, 目的是为了符合高考选拔人才的要求, 体现区分度。五个问题的答案来源可能来自前段的introduction, 也可能是电脑回答时的附加信息。这种题型考查学生提炼获取信息和处理信息的能力。在平时训练的过程中, 要强化学生的提问技巧, 可以通过笔头翻译, 快速提问等进行特殊疑问句、一般问句、选择问句的强化训练, 使学生对提问能脱口而出。此外, 可以用填空的形式有针对地训练中心词 (what/who/when/where/why how) 的获取和速记的技巧。

2012年广东省高考英语听说考试于3月12日结束。作为高考英语学科试题的一个重要的组成部分,听说考试的意义不仅仅停留在15分上,应该说这是学生未来谋求生存和发展的重要素质之一,因而听说考试对我省高中英语教学将提出了更高的要求,带来更大的挑战。

一、《课程标准》规划了听说考试的发展趋势

《课程标准》指出,根据高中学生认知能力发展的特点和学业发展的需求,高中英语课程应强调在进一步发展学生综合语言运用能力的基础上,着重提高学生用英语获取信息、处理信息,分析问题和解决问题的能力,特别注重提高学生用英语进行思维和表达的能力;形成跨文化交际的意识和基本跨文化交际能力;进一步拓宽国际视野,增强爱国主义精神和民族使命感,形成健全的情感、态度、价值观,为未来发展和终身学习奠定良好的基础(教育部,2003)。2011年和2012年的高考英语听说考试就是依据《普通高中课程方案(实验)》和《普通高中英语课程标准(实验)》以及普通高等学校对新生文化素质的要求而确定的。

听说考试在语言知识方面要求考生掌握并能运用英语语音、词汇、语法基础知识以及所学功能意念和话题(以每年颁布的考试大纲为依据),要求词汇量为3500个词左右。

在语言运用方面,听力和口语对考试提出的要求是:

听力要求考生听懂所熟悉话题的简短独白和对话。考生应能理解主旨和要义,获取具体的、事实性信息,对所听内容作出推断,理解说话者的意图、观点和态度。口语方面要求考生根据题示进行口头表达,考生应能询问或传递事实性信息,表达意思和想法,做到语音、语调自然,做到语言运用得体,使用有效的交际策略。

二、题型还原了高中英语教学的本来面目

题型是考试操作的重要组成部分。广东省高考英语听说考试题型包括:英语听说考试内容、题量、计分和时间安排如下:

计算机辅助“英语听说”考试最终计入英语科总成绩的分值=卷面成绩(满分60分)×0.25,四舍五入取整数计分。

A节模仿朗读,要求考生观看一段大约一分钟的片断,然后考生开始模仿训练:先阅读文字稿(在100-120词之间),再对照文字稿听录音。完成训练之后考生开始模仿朗读:考生对照片断的字幕朗读,要求考生的语音、语调和语速尽可能与片断保持一致。

B节角色扮演,要求考生观看一段大约两分钟的片段,明确自己拟要扮演的角色以及要完成的任务。看完片段之后首先根据中文提示,准备20秒钟后用英语提出三个问题,计算机将回答考生的提问;然后计算机向考生提出五个问题,考生必须根据自己所听的内容(包括片段和计算机的回答两部分)回答问题,回答问题之前考生有10秒钟的准备时间。

C节故事复述,要求考生先听一段大约两分钟的独白,录音播放两遍。考生准备一分钟之后开始复述所听的内容。要求考生尽可能使用自己的语言复述,而且复述内容应涵盖尽可能多的原文信息点。选取的独白其体裁主要以记述文和议论文为主。

通过两年的实践,考生在A节容易得分,原因是只要能在read after the speaker环节认真模仿,录音时read as the speaker就能达到考查的要求,这是口语能力要求的基础部分。该部分着重考查考生的语音、语调和朗读的流畅和节奏感。该部分的特点体现在:话题多样,所涉话题都在中学生认知范围之内;语言材料简洁,所涉及的词汇以国家《高中英语课程标准》附录的词汇表为依据,句子以简单句和并列句为主,符合高中毕业生的语言能力水平。

而在B节中,“三问五答”的“三问”环节考生容易得分,因为题示的问题是汉语,学生很容易翻译出来。而“五答”环节对听力和速记有较高的要求,是英语听取信息的扩展。需要学生在平时的训练中培养和提高自己的边听边写的能力。该部分话题多样性,考生对话题的熟悉程度较高;问题的难易度充分考虑“三问”和“五答”在难易方面的搭配,“三问”希望一半以上的考生能够正确作答;“五答”考点以具体信息为主。

C节是前两部分的综合能力的发挥,旨在考查考生的听力能力和语言表达能力。该部分素材以脉络清楚、情节易懂、信息点明确的故事为主,文中不出现超纲词,句子结构简单,语速基本保持在每分钟130-140词左右;故事梗概清楚地描述故事主要情节;关键词从主要信息中提炼。为了保证适当的难度,在语言上除了覆盖各种主要语法结构以外,还涉及一部分短语、习语和常用搭配与说法。

考生既要听懂又要在短时间内整理好思路进行短文的复述,平时训练必须要多听多读多写。

三、对试题的认识

1. 访谈与调查

笔者参加了2011年和2012年高考英语听说考试的监考,为了能更好地了解试题的考试情况和考查效果,于2012年3月中旬,在高考听说考试结束后,与本地区B类某高中学校参加了A、B、C题考试的部分学生进行了访谈。这些学生基本持这样的看法:试题总体比去年容易,Part A(模仿朗读)中生词基本没有,所以拼读难度不大;Part B(角色扮演)中的情景设计与我们的生活息息相关,再说所给的背景视频不变(试题B);Part C(故事复述)的故事梗概容易上口,只要将所听到的信息结合自己听到的故事内容进行适当的整合,就可以复述出来。

2. 试题比较

通过对两年的高考英语听说试题进行比较,不难看出,听说考试试题在选材方面秉承素材情景真实,语言地道与笔试部分保持高度一致的原则,各部分的材料在经过精心处理后,都是一个结构独立、内容完整的语篇。再就是所选材料源于不同的出版物,涉及考生生活的诸多方面,内容健康向上,重视情感和积极价值观培养和跨文化教育。

但是,鉴于听说考试的特点及广东各地的考场差异,超过60万的考生参加考试必须面对多套试题、在不同的时间段进行。那么,听说考试试题要力求做到各套试题之间在难度上保持一致却是一项非常艰巨的任务。

四、应对听说考试的思考

可以这样说,2011年和2012年的听说考试就集中体现了“听,是攻克英语城堡的突破口;说,是拓展英语能力的永动机(刘兆义,2010年)。”英语听说考试出现在高考中,说明培养学生英语听说交际能力得到了前所未有的重视,希望通过这一题型,促使中学英语教学能足够重视培养学生的英语口头表达能力,特别是在具体语境中的语言交际能力。

1. 努力挖掘和激活学生的经验,采取不断增强他们自信心和成就感的整体教学观点和策略,循序渐进地培养和提高他们对英语声音信息和文字等信息的理解能力。

Guillermo和Alan指出,向学生提供含有语言材料中部分信息的直观手段,以帮助学生获取语言材料中的完整信息(Guillermo & Alan,1982)。语言材料通常包括口语和书面语两种。而直观手段则常包括:表格、图表、图画、卡通画、地图等。还可借助现代技术制作各种动画、电影等。

2. 以英语核心教育资源——教材为载体,切实针对学生的实际情况,围绕教材所提供的信息和知识内容,沿着话题信息内容的理解这条主线,培养学生获取信息能力与使用信息能力(听和说)并重的能力。

Rivers曾指出,在生活中,“听”在任何语言技能中的量最重;“说”的量约是“听”的二分之一;“读”的量约为其四分之一;“写”的量约为五分之一(Rivers,1981)。语言中听说能力的重要性不言而喻。随着高考试题中听说考试的出现,我国英语听说教学的重要性逐步得到充分的认识,其教学模式,也应该从培养学生用英语获取信息能力(听)为主过渡到培养获取信息能力与使用信息能力(听和说)并重的教学模式。鉴于此,在教学活动中,笔者认为:

在所听、所读信息内容理解的基础上围绕所接受的信息组织学生展开说、写表达,从而进一步拓展他们主观思维联想,发展他们具有想象力的表达活动。如:学习Unit 3 Computers Book II(人教版)后,就话题内容进行听说训练加工:

针对话题Computers,利用角色扮演(Part B)环节,

根据本单元话题(课文)内容,进行双人口语对话活动,虚拟场景如下:

利用Using language中的Listening and speaking进行复述(Part C)的训练,将复述的题目锁定在:Advantages of IT或Disadvantages of IT,并借助所提供的功能项目语言项目(Exercise 4)进行复述。

这样做的目的不是一味搞什么“实战训练”,而是坚持一贯的“体能训练” (刘兆义,2010年),就是要强调学生自信心的建立、重听说读写基础能力的培养和实践、重学生听读说写习惯的形成和自主学习能力的培养等。

五、结束语

高考改革无论从高考内容、考题设置,还是高考形式上都在不断把握正确方向,但是高考的激烈竞争在市场经济时不可避免的。让学生通过高考,提前适应并获得在竞争中生存的能力,这是件好事。所以每一个有思想的英语教师,都必须冲破自我的思维定式,不间断地反思自己的教育教学理念和教育教学行为,不断地研究与创新自己的教育教学方式,明明白白地导航自己的教育教学和学生学习的方向,才能在高考英语听说考试中有立足之地,不断抱怨学生基础差、学校条件差等都不是明智之举。
